How To Get Started with OTC/HBC Gateway Integration

1. Connect with Your POS System Provider

  • Determine if your POS provider has integrated with a gateway provider like Fincretive.
    • If your provider works with Fincretive, check if they can assist in setting up your merchant IDs.
  • Follow your POS provider’s instructions for activation.

2. Connect with Your Wholesale Distributor

  • Find out if your wholesaler collaborates with a gateway integrator or POS system.
    • If they work with Fincretive, ask if they can help set up merchant IDs.
  • They may already provide product data to Fincretive streamline data sharing and improve basket adjudication for private label items.

3. Secure Your Merchant IDs & Upload Your Data

  • Work with your POS provider and wholesaler to complete onboarding with Fincretive.
  • Onboarding steps include:
    • Receiving your merchant IDs
    • Uploading product data for approved item adjudication
    • Completing activation testing
    • Receiving marketing materials
    • Completing training– text ‘HBC Merchant’ to 72000

4. Final Check-In

Before transacting, work with your POS Dealer to ensure you have:

  • Updated your POS system
  • Secured merchant IDs
  • Uploaded product data
  • Completed activation testing with your POS provider or wholesaler

Once these steps are complete, you are ready to accept HBC/OTC cards in your store!

5. Inform Your Customers

Let your customers know that you now accept HBC/OTC benefits. NGA and Fincretive have developed in-store education and awareness materials to help spread the word. Downloadable assets are available under Marketing Materials to customize with your own logo and brand elements.

Additionally, different health programs may provide brand-specific promotional materials once connected.
