What Are Nutrition Incentives?

Nutrition incentives provide extra food dollars to help low-income shoppers include more fruits and vegetables on their diet. They help close the nutrition gap among low-income families by increasing purchasing power and access to fruits and vetetables. These programs are administered by grantee organizations, and grocers play a key role helping program participants access these healthy foods. Grocers, in return are reimbursed for the incentive values distributed on a monthly basis.

What We Do

The National Grocers Association Foundation Technical Assistance Center (NGAF TA Center) helps grocers launch and run nutrition incentive programs. Our services are offered at no cost and membership in the National Grocers Association is not required. Use the Get Support page and we will connect with you on first steps.

The NGAF TA Center is a proud partner of the Nutrition Incentive Hub. Collaboratively, Nutrition Incentive Hub partners provide training, technical assistance, reporting, and evaluation assistance and resources for those who want to launch or expand GusNIP-supported nutrition incentive or produce prescription projects across the country. These efforts help families and individuals experiencing food insecurity purchase and consume more fruits and vegetables.
