Santa Fe Springs, California-based Superior Grocers has named Richard Wardwell as president and CEO, effective Jan. 30. He will succeed company founder Mimi Song, who will be stepping down as CEO but will remain chairman.
Wardwell has more than 40 years of grocery retail experience. He began his career as a courtesy clerk and rose through the ranks of the grocery industry. Among other roles, he served as director of operations for SaveMart and VP of operations for Raley’s Food Source Division. In 2014, he became VP of operations for Superior Grocers.
