Washington D.C. – The National Grocers Association (NGA) is excited to announce a variety of unique networking events at this year’s Executive Conference & Public Policy Summit, scheduled for Oct. 24-26, 2022, in Washington, D.C.
On the evening of Monday, Oct. 24, NGA will host a 40th anniversary celebration, marking an important milestone in the organization’s history. The event will feature a nod to the past, honor our founding members and look ahead to what the future holds for independent grocers.
“Forty years ago, two organizations merged to become the national trade association exclusively representing independent grocers and wholesalers, and our mission remains the same today,” said Greg Ferrara, NGA president and CEO. “There is no better place to celebrate this important milestone than Washington, D.C., as this is where we have been fighting on behalf of independents since our inception to support fair competition and a level playing field. I look forward to seeing everyone this October so we can celebrate all NGA has accomplished in anticipation of a prosperous future for independent grocers.”
Presented by the NGA Foundation, “Historic Monuments of D.C. After Dark” will provide attendees with an unforgettable guided nighttime tour of the district’s most iconic monuments, including the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument.
“The NGA Foundation provides independent community grocers with the tools to develop effective recruiting programs, enhance retention efforts and bolster professional development,” said Chelsea Matzen, NGA Foundation director. “We do this with the generous support of our partners in the independent grocery industry. This event will be a great chance for attendees to support the NGA Foundation’s mission while enjoying a fun and memorable tour of our nation’s capital.”
Attendees will have the option to purchase tickets for this event when they register for the Executive Conference & Public Policy Summit. All proceeds will benefit the many NGA Foundation programs serving students, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion.
Additionally, Women Grocers of America (WGA) will be holding its first Executive Female Leaders Network (EXFL), a professional peer group for women that is designed for female executives in the independent grocery industry, during the Executive Conference & Public Policy Summit. This network provides the opportunity for women in the retail, wholesale, supplier, manufacturer and vendor communities to meet in-person, share ideas and experiences, and face complex issues in the independent grocery industry. The first meeting will be held Oct. 23-24 during the Executive Conference & Public Policy Summit. Click here to learn more.

From sessions focused on the changing consumer landscape, the state of independent grocery and supply chain challenges to the impact of politics and federal policy on the industry, this summit pairs high-impact education and networking with the unique opportunity to meet with federal representatives who craft policies affecting your business.
