Arlington, VA- The National Grocers Association (NGA) announced Saint Joseph’s University as the winner of the 2019 Student Case Study Competition, held at The NGA Show in San Diego, CA. Western Michigan University was awarded with second place in the competition.
More than 80 students from 13 leading universities with food industry programs competed this year, focusing on the growth of millennials in the workforce and how independent supermarkets can encourage millennials – especially those from diverse backgrounds – to join the industry.
“Congratulations to the Saint Joseph’s University team, and all of our student participants of this year’s competition at The NGA Show,” said Peter Larkin, president and CEO of NGA. “We appreciate all of the hard work each student puts into this competition, which was clearly demonstrated by the creative ideas and solutions from the case studies. NGA is proud to provide students who will be our next generation of leaders with opportunities for learning and growth.”
The competition was one of many ways for university students to get involved at the 2019 NGA show, which included a mentorship program and networking opportunities with industry influencers.
