Today, NGA offered support for Congressional action that would avoid a shutdown of the U.S. freight rail system ahead of the expiration of the cooling off period between labor negotiations set to occur on December 8.
“From farm to fork, it takes a community of stakeholders working together along America’s supply chain to ensure that consumers have access to essential food products and goods. Given persistent supply chain disruptions, labor shortages and inflationary conditions, even a looming threat of interruption can have negative impacts on independent grocers, their wholesalers and the neighborhoods they serve across the nation. We applaud President Biden’s call to action to avert a rail shutdown and appreciate Congress swiftly intervening to keep the freight rail system operating.”
