Formerly published years ago, Independent Grocer will also be offered online
Washington D.C. – The National Grocers Association (NGA), the trade association representing the independent supermarket industry, announces the return of its print magazine, Independent Grocer.
Formerly published years ago by the association, NGA has relaunched Independent Grocer as a biannual magazine for association members that explores NGA member companies, executives, advocacy efforts and events. Also available in an online edition, Independent Grocer will be published twice a year, in May and December.
“In today’s digital age, our members receive so many communications pieces through emails, newsletters and alerts, as well as webinars. By reviving NGA’s printed magazine, our members can benefit from a more tangible visual record of their association and a more lasting way to stay connected,” said Greg Ferrara, NGA president and CEO.
Each issue of Independent Grocer will include a profile of an independent grocery executive and an NGA member retailer, recaps of NGA events and status reports from the association’s advocacy teams.
“The magazine will offer a look at things that emails don’t quite do justice, with additional photographs, in-depth illustrated interviews and long-form updates on the activities of NGA teams, including government relations, membership, industry relations and the NGA Foundation, along with trend information and member news,” Ferrara noted.
The premiere issue includes a profile of Kristin Popp, executive vice president of Woodman’s Food Markets and president of Women Grocers of America, which operators under the NGA Foundation; a feature on Boston-area independent grocer Roche Bros., which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary in business; a recap of the 2023 NGA Show; a roundup of winners of NGA’s Creative Choice Awards for marketing and merchandising; and a look at Lipari Foods’ annual show held this past March.
The next issue of Independent Grocer is scheduled to be published in December. For more information on how to support this effort and include your company’s ad, please contact ngaadvertising@nationalgrocers.org.
