NGA Drives Education for Store Leaders Through Signature Event Series, Engage: Store Operations Summit

Immersive 2-day event provided attendees actionable insights focused on operations and merchandising

Salt Lake City, Utah – The National Grocers Association (NGA) successfully concluded its Store Operations Summit yesterday at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Part of NGA’s signature event series, Engage: Store Operations Summit brought together store leaders focused on merchandising, store operations and increasing sales. Attendees participated in two days of informative and interactive sessions that took a deep dive into pricing strategy, creative promotions, loyalty and much more.  

“Attendees are leaving this event equipped with tactics to address the challenges of an ever-changing food retail landscape, which is exactly what our Engage event series aims to do,” said Greg Ferrara, NGA president and CEO. “I thank our speakers and resource partners for their support in making this event a reality. The Store Operations Summit kicked off with an opening presentation by John Ross, president and CEO, IGA Inc. Educational sessions led by Harold Lloyd, of Harold Lloyd Presents, focused on positioning in the marketplace, pricing strategy and store remodeling. Attendees also heard from Steve Morrow, store manager with Allen’s Food Market, a grocery store based in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Offering another interactive experience, attendees had the unique opportunity to visit exceptional grocery stores in the Salt Lake City market, Harmons Grocery, Lee’s Marketplace and Macey’s.  

Day two’s sessions focused on the importance of location, automation, partnerships and communication. Dale Norman Reeves, a certified forensic Interviewer, spoke about his powerful method for connection during conversation, which provided attendees with a way to communicate that inspires action and gets powerful results. The day concluded with sessions covering topics including loyalty scores, profitability and operational performance.  

NGA’s Engage Series began last year with a CPG edition, the premier trading partner event for the independent grocery industry. During this virtual event, independent retailers and the wholesalers that service them connected and collaborated with their key CPG suppliers. The experience provided ample opportunities for trading partners to discuss new opportunities, check in on current business and share insights to deliver growth.
