FMS Solutions to Acquire UNFI’s Retail Accounting Services Division

This morning, FMS Solutions, Inc. (FMS) announced it has entered an agreement with United Natural Foods, Inc. to acquire (UNFI)’s Retail Accounting Services Division. The transaction is expected to be completed by June 6.

The move will help independent retailers, combining FMS’s retail accounting services with UNFI’s diverse customer service portfolio.

Gary Bickmore, FMS Vice President of Strategic Alliances, had the following to say about the move:

“We saw an opportunity to merge two organizations with the same client-centric approach and genuine passion for the grocery industry. UNFI and FMS have a long history of providing excellent accounting and payroll services across North America. We look forward to overcoming any challenges of assimilating both teams. Moreover, we expect to continue to provide best in class services to all our clients.”

Buehler’s has another successful Harvest for Hunger Campaign Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Buehler’s Harvest for Hunger campaign, benefiting the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, is a well-established annual tradition, funding food pantries, hot meal sites, shelters, and hunger relief programs. With the COVID-19 pandemic transforming everyday life, a less successful campaign may have been expected this year. However, this was not the case as Buehler’s employees, customers, and vendors came together to raise $131,000, equaling 524,000 meals. Learn more from The Shelby Report

NGA Announces Support for Front Line Food Supply Chain Heroes

On Tuesday, NGA released a statement in support of the AG Chain Act, which provides a federal tax holiday and a payroll tax exemption for essential employees in the food and agriculture industry.

NGA President and CEO, Greg Ferrara, had the following to say about this important legislation:

“Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, independent grocers and wholesalers have made nothing less than heroic efforts to keep the food supply chain humming, using every tool in their toolbox to restock and replenish shelves and serve their communities. We appreciate Congressman Thompson and Evans for their leadership on this important legislation to recognize the great efforts employees in the food supply chain have taken to provide Americans with life necessities during these challenging times.”
