NGA Calls on Congress to Advance Legislation Strengthening the Work Opportunity Tax Credit

Washington, D.C. – The National Grocers Association (NGA) strongly supports the Improve and Enhance the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) Act. The WOTC has long been an essential tool for independent community grocers, helping to facilitate the hiring and training of workers who face barriers to employment while strengthening the workforce pipeline in towns and neighborhoods across our nation.

“A long-term extension of the WOTC will not only provide the stability small businesses need to continue investing in their employees and building strong teams, but the legislation’s targeted improvements will also expand meaningful job opportunities for veterans, military spouses, SNAP recipients, individuals with disabilities, and others who want to be self-sufficient while contributing to their local economies. NGA urges Congress to advance this critical piece of legislation and ensure that Main Street employers and workers can continue to benefit from this proven program.”
