Matthew (Matt) Ott is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the National Grocers Association and the Executive Director of the NGA Foundation. He leads the departments of operations and administration, IT, membership, business development and meetings and events for NGA and leads all efforts for the NGA Foundation.
Prior to joining NGA in 2011, Matt has held various management positions within the association and non-profit industries with a focus on improving member relations, increasing organizational growth opportunities and creating meaningful partnerships. Matt has worked with the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association, the National Recreation and Park Association, CoachSmartNH and AIM Meetings and Events where he managed multiple clients and events simultaneously.
Matt is an active member and volunteer with many groups and associations. Most notably, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) where he serves on the Capital Area Advisory Council and holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification. Matt also holds a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification from the Convention Industry Council. In 2013, Matt was named as one of six Association TRENDS Young and Aspiring Professionals and was named to Association Forum of Chicagoland and USAE’s list of the top 40 Under Forty, recognizing the top young talent in the association and non-profit industries. Matt has also been recognized as a member of the Trending 40: Association and Non-Profit Innovators in the Greater DC Metro area.
He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire (M.S.) and George Mason University (B.S.). He currently lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife Jillian and son Sebastian.
