Congress is launching a serious effort to overhaul the US Tax Code. While we won't know whether they will ultimately be successful, the powerful House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committees are beginning to lay the groundwork. The Ways and Means Committee has established a number of working groups within the Committee to "learn" about assigned subject areas. The House working groups have been instructed to produce a report for the full committee by April 15, 2013.
Since 2011, NGA's lobbying team has met with numerous Congressional offices, educating them on some of the important tax provisions that are unique and important to the independent supermarket industry. The NGA team will be going back in to meet with a number of the Ways and Means working groups in the coming weeks so it's essential that you help provide your feedback on this survey. We apologize for the very tight turnaround time, but the process is moving quickly in the House and it's essential that we are able to provide the independent grocer's unique perspective to the various working groups.
