Grocers Care: National Moment of Remembrance

America’s Grocers have a long history of being committed to their country, Grocers Care logoespecially during challenging times.  This is best exemplified through N.G.A.’s Grocers Care program. On Memorial Day, you will have an opportunity to show your commitment to America’s fallen soldiers. N.G.A. is once again partnering with the White House Commission on Remembrance to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by supporting the National Moment of Remembrance.

Memorial Day (first called Decoration Day) began in 1868 to remember those killed in the Civil War.  Since World War I, Memorial Day has become a time to honor all those who died in service to our Nation. The Moment does not replace tradition Memorial Day events; it is an act of national unity to honor our fallen.  In this shared remembrance, we connect as Americans.

We ask you make a commitment to observe a Moment in your businesses along with Grocers and Americans from across the country at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day to honor the millions who make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and make a commitment to give back to our country in their memory. The Moment can be as informal as ringing a bell, a moment of silence, or a larger event. Please make a commitment to promote the National Moment of Remembrance to local leaders, area businesses and, in particular, to your customers. This is a time when we must all come together to honor those who have given their lives so that we may continue to live free.
