2010 National Best Bagger Championship

Thursday, February 11 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.S3 NGA Convention logo 2010

A big change is in store for the 24th National Best Bagger Championship. One of the industry’s most exciting events is switching from paper and plastic to reusable bags. This change is due to the increasingly popularity of reusable bags around the country. The proper bagging of groceries is an important part of the operation of a successful retail grocery business, and front-end employees, in particular, have a major effect on how well a retailer serves the customer. This national competition is the culmination of contests all across the country, with a champion from each state eligible to enter the contest.

Increase in the Prize Money for the 24th Annual Best Bagger Championship!

The National Grocers Association (N.G.A.) is excited to announce that the winner of the 24th Annual Best Bagger Championship will receive a grand prize of $10,000 this year. The second place winner will receive $5,000 and 3rd – 5th places a prize of $1,000 each.

Now available for your State Contest – Reusable Bags!

You can now order the reusable bags that will be used at this year's championship for your use in your state's bagging contest. The dimensions are the same as the paper bag: 12 inches in length, 7 inches in width and 17 inches in height. Click here to view a photo of the bag. If you want to use these bags in your contest, please complete and fax this form (.pdf 11 kb) to 703-516-0115.

State Best Bagger Contests

This is an opportunity for fun, excitement and a lot of cheering as the best baggers from across the state compete for the title of America's Best Bagger Champion. Friends, family and members of the food industry will cheer on their favorite baggers as they demonstrate professional appearance, top speeds and proper bag building techniques for paper and plastic bags.
