Financial Management Conference Review
Tampa, Florida • May 17-19, 2006

The N.G.A. Financial Management Conference was held on May 17-19, 2006 at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay Hotel in Tampa, Florida.  Attendees to the conference had a chance to meet with experts in the financial field to obtain vital information on how to better manage all aspects of their business. This two day conference was highlighted by the immense amount of interaction and information exchange that took place during the sessions.

The conference consisted of eight in-depth sessions that addressed current financial and legal issues that are unique to independent retailers and wholesalers such as; managing labor costs, valuations of the business, strategic planning, consumer related payment costs, disaster planning, positioning for business growth, and managing tax reforms.

The closing session featured Jordan Goodman, “America’s Money Answer Man.” Jordan is a nationally-recognized expert on financial topics. He is a regular contributor to Public Radio International’s “The Marketplace Morning Report,” and daily guest on radio and television shows across the country, such as NBC’s “The Today Show,” PBS, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC, and Nightline. He shared his Twelve Commandments of Finance, which helped direct attendees to make wise choices for their financial future.

This conference was co-sponsored by N.G.A. and FMS (Financial Management Solutions) and offered Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for CPA’s.
