Welcome to N.G.A. Welcome to N.G.A. Welcome to N.G.A.

N.G.A. RETAILER MEMBERSHIP:

For 25 years, it has been the privilege of the National Grocers Association (N.G.A.) to represent the interests of independent community focused retailers.  N.G.A. is focused on providing companies like yours the support and services needed to compete in today’s marketplace.   We would like to encourage you to take a look at some of the initiatives and programs N.G.A. has undertaken and consider a membership investment in the National Grocers Association.  This investment supports and ensures that N.G.A. remains the only association exclusively committed to the continued success and growth of independent community focused retailers.

N.G.A. and CSRSI are proud to announce the release of The N.G.A/CSR PCI COMPLIANCE TOOLKIT®, the first and only fully integrated cross-referenced system, which allows the merchant the ability to fully comply with the mandated requirements of the Payment Card Industry Security Standard (PCI DSS). All merchants who in any way accept, store, transmit or handle "credit cards" must comply. There are no exceptions. Compliance is mandatory. If you are not PCI compliant you have no defense and are subject to immediate termination of card accepting privileges.
N.G.A. believes the Robinson-Patman Act must be strengthened – not repealed, and that the FTC should enforce it. The Robinson-Patman Coalition, led by N.G.A. and other associations on behalf of their thousands of community-focused business members in June urged the House and Senate Judiciary Committees to support preserving the principles of the Robinson-Patman Act and to strongly oppose efforts to repeal this important antitrust law which promotes diversity in the marketplace and serves to level the playing field.  Because of the leadership of N.G.A., retail and wholesale grocers, and other national trade associations in the coalition, in voicing support for the Robinson Patman Act, no Congressional action is expected on the Anti-trust Modernization Commissions recommendations to repeal Robinson-Patman.
N.G.A. strongly supports legislation that would close the current loophole in the Bank Holding Company Act which allows non-financial companies—such as supercenters—to own and operate banks without regulation at the holding company level by the Federal Reserve.  N.G.A., along with the Sound Banking Coalition fully supports S.1356 which would establish regulations for industrial bank holding companies.  The bill would subject industrial banks to FDIC requirements regarding registration, reporting and banking examinations, as well as prohibits an industrial bank from being controlled by a commercial firm.  The House version of the bill, H.R. 698 passed by a vote of 371 to 16 in May.

The Supercenter Share Group is a N.G.A. member exclusive program aimed at providing members with the opportunity to participate with other industry executives and experts in developing a strategic plan for competing in the marketplace.  These sharegroup meetings include area store tours and presentations by industry leaders, retailers and wholesalers on a variety of topics aimed a strengthening your market position.

The Washington Public Policy Conference provides retailers and wholesalers a unique opportunity to attend meetings and important briefings on current legislative issues that will have and impact on their businesses and provides attendees an opportunity to meet face to face with their elected Members of Congress on important issues affecting the grocery industry.
Over the years, the N.G.A. annual convention has earned the reputation of delivering a program focused on significant topics affecting our nation and world as well as the timeliest issues and trends affecting community-focused retailers and wholesalers in a professional, interactive atmosphere. The 2008 N.G.A. Annual Convention and Supermarket Synergy Showcase took place at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, February 5 -8, 2008.
